japan
After almost two years of planning and not being able to make the trip happen for one reason or another, we were finally able to make Japan happen a few weeks ago. We decided to just throw some stuff in a suitcase, stuff it inside a bigger one, and just go – before we get cold feet again[1] from not having the ideal plan. Even unplanned, the trip was part-therapeutic, and part-adventure.
The most unexpected outcome of the trip however was the impromptu purchase of my Nikon Z30. We realised that our iPhone cameras wouldn’t be able to do justice to how picturesque Japan can be. Sugandha has already told me a few times she likes the photos I take, and with a real camera some effort and training, I would make a pretty good photographer. This trip seemed as good as any to begin that journey. So after making the decision and some deliberation, we decided to buy a good starter camera that wouldn’t overwhelm but also wouldn’t be a throwaway. This also made me revive my old flickr account, and I’ll begin putting up some photos there once I’ve selected a few.
I understand now why everyone always goes back[2], as will we in the next couple of years.
